A Kinder Way to Ride

Most lesson barns can feel intense — fast-paced, high-pressure, and built for competition. At Saddle & Grow, we do things differently. Our goal is to make horseback riding accessible, fun, and personal for every young rider.

FAQ
  • What style of riding do you teach?
We teach Western riding — it’s calm, beginner-friendly, and perfect for riders who are just getting started.
  • What age can riders start lessons?
We welcome riders ages 6 and up. At this age, kids are usually ready to follow instructions, stay focused, and safely enjoy their time with the horses.
  • Are the lessons private or in a group?
Lessons begin in one-on-one. This gives the rider undivided attention and lets us tailor each session to their comfort and pace. After completing Grow Goals: Bloom successfully, riders will be allowed to join group lessons and trail rides.
  • What happens if it rains?
If weather isn’t safe or comfortable for riding, we’ll reschedule. You’ll always be notified in advance, and we’re flexible about finding a new time that works.
  • Can I watch my child’s lesson?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to watch from a quiet spot nearby. We find it helps many kids to know you’re there — even if they’re focused on their horse.
  • Do we need to bring anything?
We provide helmets. Your rider just needs long pants and boots with a small heel or closed-toe shoes. In colder weather, we recommend gloves and layers.
  • What if my child is nervous or shy?
That’s totally okay — many are! We specialize in gentle, low-pressure lessons. There’s no rush. We go at your child’s pace and make trust the top priority.
  • Is there a weight limit?
Yes. For the health of our horses, we can currently accommodate riders under 120 lbs. We hope to expand this in the future.
  • How does billing work?
We bill upfront for 6 riding lessons, which is typically how long it takes to complete one of our riding programs. That said, every rider progresses at their own pace. If you need a little more time, no problem! After the initial 6 lessons, you’re welcome to continue on a lesson-by-lesson basis until you feel confident and ready.
  • Can we start anytime?
Yes! Riders can start anytime throughout the season — just choose your preferred start date when booking.

Ready to ride? We’ll be waiting at the paddock.
